School's Out with the Rockstars

June 1st, 7 pm, celebrate the end of pencils, books and teachers' dirty looks.

Thursday 17 April 2014 at 11:50 am.

Wrapping up our season of party-themed shows, we're celebrating the end of school. Not, you know, forever, but for Summer. We'll have Allegra Lingo, Courtney McClean, Amy Salloway, Tom Reed, Laura Bidgood and Ben San Del up on the stage, and the role of Rockstar Wrangler will be played by Rob Callahan.

If you haven't been to a Rockstar Storytellers show before, here's what you're in for:

Jessica Armbruster, writing for City Pages, says...

"Combining the words 'rock star' with 'storytellers' may sound like an oxymoron, but we assure you it is not. While other popular storytellers on the circuit focus on traditions in the genre, the RockStar Storytellers look to pop culture, to twenty-to-thirty-something sensibilities, and to contemporary books for inspiration."

Erica Rivera at Vita.mn calls us...

"a ragtag bunch of sketch comedy, stand-up, spoken word, slam poetry, improv, creative nonfiction and playwright performers"

Chris Roberts at MPR News sums us up nicely...

"In the Rockstars, every style of storytelling is represented, from spoken word and performance monologue to stand up comedy or a more literary presentation."

So that's what we're all about, and what we'll be about in June. See you there.
